Srinagar, Aug 08 (KNO): The administration of Ladakh Union Territory has set-up three-tier administrative structure for the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA). The UT administration has constituted three committees- governing body, steering committee and executive committee- for implementation of CAMPA in Ladakh UT. According to a notification issued by the administration, a copy of which is with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO),  LG of Ladakh UT would be chairperson of governing body which will lay down broad framework of Ladakh CAMPA within the overall framework notified by the central government on recommendations of the National Authority. The LG-headed panel will also review overall working of Ladakh CAMPA from time to time. The notification states that steering committee would be headed by advisor to LG Ladakh. The screening committee shall scrutinize and approve with such amendments as it deems fit and proper the annual plan of operations prepared by Ladakh CAMPA and send the same to the executive committee of the National Authority for final approval. It has also been mandated to monitor the progress of the utilization of funds released from Ladakh CAMPA and review reports on decisions taken by the executive committee. According to the notification, 17-member executive committee of the CAMPA shall be headed by Chief Conservator of Forests, Ladakh. The panel is mandated to formulate and submit annual plan of operations to the steering committee of Ladakh CAMPA for its concurrence. It is also empowered to undertake qualitative and quantitative supervision, monitoring and evaluation of the works being implemented from funds available with Ladakh CAMPA—(KNO)
